What is BOTOX®?

BOTOX® is the first and only treatment FDA-approved to temporarily improve the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines, crow’s feet, and forehead lines in adults. Since BOTOX® works by inhibiting nerve transmission, it is classified as a neuromodulator, a messenger released from a neuron that affects the transmission of signals between neurons.

How Does BOTOX® Work?

Repeated muscle contractions, like frowning or squinting, lead to facial lines. Other factors include cellular changes, reduced collagen, and damage from sun and the environment. BOTOX® injections block muscle receptors, reducing muscle activity and diminishing wrinkles. This non-invasive procedure leaves you looking refreshed without surgery.

    What Does BOTOX® Treat?

BOTOX® can be used to treat several facial aging concerns. However, BOTOX® works best for the following issues:

    • When you frown or concentrate, the muscles between your brows contract, causing frown lines
    • When you squint or smile, the muscles around your eyes contract, causing crow’s feet
    • When you raise your eyebrows, the muscles on your forehead contract, causing forehead lines

      BOTOX® Procedure

BOTOX® in San Jose is quick and relatively painless and can be performed at our aesthetic center. If you are concerned about discomfort, we may apply a topical numbing cream before administering your treatment.

During your appointment, the injector will determine the best dosage to be injected into targeted areas. You may feel a slight prick or pinch as the needle enters the skin, but any pain or discomfort is minimal. Some patients prefer to use a cold compress immediately after the procedure. Treatment requires minimal downtime, so you can return to your daily routine immediately after leaving our office.

What are the Results of BOTOX®?

BOTOX® results may appear within 24 to 48 hours, with full results in thirty days. These results include:

      • Reduced appearance of wrinkles
      • Visible smoothing of frown lines, crow’s feet, and forehead lines
      • Up to four months of visible improvements
      • Naturally beautiful results tailored to suit your facial anatomy
      • You’ll look like yourself but with less noticeable lines

However, BOTOX® Cosmetic is not a permanent treatment. If you discontinue treatment, the moderate to severe frown lines, crow's feet, and forehead lines will gradually return.

What Is The Difference Between Botox And Dermal Fillers?

BOTOX and dermal fillers are both injectable treatments, but they work differently. BOTOX freezes muscle activity, smoothing out wrinkles, while dermal fillers restore volume lost in areas like the lips and cheeks. BOTOX focuses on relaxing muscles, while fillers add volume and can reduce fine lines. Patients should discuss their specific aging concerns during a consultation to determine which option suits them best.

What is the Recovery From Botox?

After your Botox in San Jose, your provider will give detailed instructions to ensure your skin heals properly. Most patients can return to work and resume their everyday routines immediately after being treated with Botox.
