Extended deep plane facelift: Older, traditional facelift techniques involved simply removing excess skin, pulling it tight, and suturing the skin in place. Sadly, this approach left patients with an unnatural look that was obviously the result of surgery. A deep plane facelift is an entirely different surgical approach. It works to tighten and reposition the underlying facial tissues as a single unit, rather than in parts, rewinding the clock up to ten or fifteen years. This approach treats the mid-to-lower facial area, redefines the jawline, and corrects sagging cheeks, creases, and lines, to reveal “the best you.”

Your recovery after a facelift

If you are planning to attend a wedding, reunion, or another social event, plan your facelift at least two months beforehand. Although you will look incredible at about the four-week mark, two months allow your tissues to fully settle into place. During your recovery, take all the time you need to rest and restore. If you work, you should be able to return to your job in about ten days to two weeks, based on your body’s unique rate of healing.

In the early stages of healing, it is normal to expect some swelling and bruising. Our facial plastic surgeons will see you several times to ensure your recovery is successful. Sleep on your back and avoid any vigorous physical activities until cleared by our surgeons. Most patients can return to running, workouts, yoga, or other physical activities within four weeks.
